EXOMOON was an immersive theatre experience exploring humanity’s future beyond Earth. A collaboration between Theatre Neumarkt, SEADS the CHAMELEON exoplanet research group, the production ran from 6–20 September 2023, inviting audiences to imagine life in a habitat orbiting a moon around a distant exoplanet.
The performance asked urgent questions: What values, identities, and knowledge would we carry into space? How would leaving Earth reshape what it means to be human? Through contemporary cultural references and speculative storytelling, EXOMOON turned these questions into a live, multi-sensory journey.

As a speculative designer, I contributed to the scenography and audience experience, helping craft environments and interactions that blurred the line between science and imagination. My work focused on designing spatial elements and narrative touchpoints that drew visitors deeper into the idea of an unfamiliar, off-world existence, encouraging them to reflect on both the strangeness and intimacy of a life lived far from Earth.
Within these layered settings, visitors encountered unexpected spaces and new possibilities, gaining a fresh perspective on their own place in the universe. With space exploration becoming an integral part of human culture, EXOMOON offered a compelling glimpse of a future in which colonisation and cultural creation extend far beyond our planet.
The production featured captivating performances by Yan Balistoy, Sofia Elena Borsani, Challenge Gumbodete, and Melina Pyschn, alongside daily guest appearances by scientists and artists, weaving research and art into a shared, thought-provoking experience.
